The Durango Dharma Center is hosting its first art exhibit, “Intention-Stillness-Activity,” starting Sept. 14 in its downstairs gallery space.

Five local artists – Carol Meckling, Barbara Klema, Ilze Aviks, Melissa Percell and Andrea Martens – will be showing more than 20 pieces, each a unique reflection on dharma themes, including impermanence, compassion, kindness, joy and equanimity.

An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 14. A second reception will take place after the regularly scheduled Monday night sitting meditation and dharma talk on Sept. 17. (The sit will start as usual at 5:30 p.m. and the reception will be held at 7 p.m.) Refreshments will be served at both events.
